BACKGROUND:
CalSBE was incorporated as a 501 © 6 business association in 2003; however, CalSBE has evolved over the last 25 years, from a group of individuals and small, minority, women and disabled veteran building contractors and business groups to a dynamic, nonprofit, business oriented, membership-driven organization that has greatly impacted public works contracting.
California Small Business Entrepreneurs, Inc. (CalSBE) is a statewide advocate for small, businesses contracting predominantly in the public sector. For over 25 years CalSBE sponsored many small business legislative bills that became law such as the Prompt-Pay Bill and AB 1084 which established the authority for California’s Small Business Program at the local level.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To advocate policies at the local, state and federal government levels beneficial to small business.
THE ORGANIZATION:
· Is a statewide association composed of dedicated, experienced advocates with a 25 year record of expertise in public works construction, professional services and commodities bidding and contracting
· Is recognized as an influential and pro-active voice for small businesses
· Represents small business interests before executive, legislative, regulatory, administrative and judicial bodies of government through its Legislative Assemblies spearheaded by its membership
· Initiates and influences legislation to advance its membership’s business interests and to oppose legislation detrimental to small businesses
· Advances small business participation in public and private sector procurement and contracting
